How did you choose glass for the surface of Solar Road Panels?
Scott visited two of the three top materials research labs in the U.S. looking for a strong enough transparent material to cover the solar cells. The experts all suggested glass. Glass is harder than steel and can be made bullet-proof and bomb-resistant.
If there is an accident, will the glass break and will people be cut?
No, the glass is very unlikely to break and if it did it would break in a similar way to a car windshield and would not cut anyone.
What keeps the glass from being slippery?
SR glass has a traction which is very similar to asphalt. In fact, SRPs have to pass the same tests.
